The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (CSA Word Classics)

By Doyle, Arthur Conan & Hardwicke, Edward

Publishers Summary:
In Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s “The Final Problem,” written in 1893, Sherlock Holmes plunged to the bottom of the Reichenbach Falls in the fatal grip of his old adversary, Professor Moriarty. The story was Holmes’ swan song: Doyle wanted nothing more to do with his celebrated sleuth. However, after intense public demand and irresistible financial offers from British and American publishers, Doyle eventually relented. A decade after his dramatic “death,” the detective roared back to life in “The Adventure of the Empty House.” That story, and the other five collected here, date from this later period. All were featured in Granada’s classic television series of the 1990s, starring reader Edward Hardwicke as Dr. Watson, who helped compile this collection. Included are “The Adventure of the Devil’s Foot,” “The Adventure of the Abbey Grange,” “The Adventure of the Cardboard Box,” “The Man With the Twisted Lip,” and “The Adventure of the Bruce-Partington Plans.”
